'...I am so excited by your approach to Economics Education with your students. I think your Economics course may be one of the most valuable in preparing our daughter for Grade 9...'
In yesterday's Globe and Mail entitled "Entrepreneurial Skills I wish I had learned in high school." It made me think of you because it was all about how schools can be rigid and teach to only one type of learning and how they should be more open to teaching and embracing unique learning styles. It is exactly what you were saying. There should be more teachers like you!
Just to let you know that my son values you both as a mentor and as his math teacher. I know that he'll retain your teaching ethics and personal experiences in the years to come. Thank you for everything!
I particularly would like to thank Mrs. McMahon, as it was your outstanding dedication to help my son with his challenges in Language Arts. He learned the skills he needed from you so that he could succeed in all his high school courses.” Thank you.
I thought I would let you know that my son’s experiences at Glenburnie prepared him well for his high school success! I just want to report that he obtained the highest mark in Grade 9 for his course: Learning Strategies: (92%) for which he received an award. He also made Honours for his Grade 9 year. He is now in Grade 10 at Port Credit Secondary School in the Sci-Tech program and doing amazingly well, and working hard with a heavy course load. He is excelling and is a dedicated student.
“I just wanted to write a quick note to say thanks for your approach and style with Language Arts this year. I’m not sure what specifically you’ve done, but my son has been very inspired and is thoroughly enjoying the story writing activities you are doing. He has always enjoyed writing short stories, but he’s been further inspired this year. In fact, he mentioned to me the other day that he would like to be an author someday. I’m not sure if that dream will hold out, as he continues to mature, but the inspiration and encouragement has certainly made his year very rewarding so far. Many thanks for all of your efforts and guidance for my son. “

“Thank you for the wonderful trip to Quebec City. My daughter had a wonderful time and has been bubbling with enthusiasm with tales of the trip. It was an amazing experience for her and I was happy to know that she and the other students were well taken care of. I appreciate the passion and enthusiasm that you bring to school every day. Glenburnie is very fortunate to have a teacher of your calibre and the student experience is enriched because of it. Your interaction with your students has a profound influence on their self-esteem and confidence, and I am sure will serve them well beyond the musical education. “

“We wanted to say how much we appreciate your very kind note today regarding our son. You should know that we believe that your teaching style clearly resonates well with him. He thinks very highly of you and we see him working with added vigour on your subjects, which all told, looks to be following through in his grade performance. Thank you again for your comments, for taking the time to write your note, and most importantly, for all you are doing to impact his learning, development, and growth.”

“We would like tell you how impressed we are by your dedication and professionalism. In our opinion, teaching is the most difficult profession. It must be, at the same time, very rewarding to watch young people grow and transform on a daily basis. We are very pleased that our daughter is happy in your class. She respects you and learns much from you. At the same time, we greatly appreciate that you support our vision and you are working with us to challenge her. One day, I watched you carry her heavy backpack and it melted my heart. I know that only a caring mother would do such a thing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! “
