Principal’s Message February 2018

January was a very busy month at Glenburnie!  Our students have kicked off the New Year with great enthusiasm.  Their day-to-day work, projects, and classroom activities have been meaningful and productive.  Students have been encouraged to set new academic and social goals, and to put their plan into action, to strive towards achieving their personal best.

It’s February and the days are getting longer and brighter. We’re already half way through the school year!  If you have popped into the school during the day, you may have noticed that Mr. McCammon and I have been busy touring a number of prospective families through each division of the school.  As always, I am proud of our current students who are so warm and welcoming when families tour and when visiting students join classes for their assessment day.  I am pleased to report that we continue to welcome a number of new families to our Glenburnie family.

We have our upcoming Open House which is scheduled for Saturday, February 3rd from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A number of our Grade Eight students will be Glenburnie ambassadors and will tour families throughout our facility on this day, reflecting upon their experiences which they have gained over their time at Glenburnie.  As always, your recommendation of our school is our highest compliment.

Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s homeroom teacher, rotary teachers, or myself, if you would like to discuss your child’s progress, goals to date, or inquire about your child’s educational programming plans for next year.  Our commitment to excellence in education is paramount, and meeting your child’s academic, social, and emotional needs is our priority.  We are grateful to have the opportunity to work with you and your children.

“Love has no meaning if it isn’t shared.  Love has to be put in action.  You have to love without expectation, to do something for love itself, not for what you may receive.  If you expect something in return, then it isn’t love, because true love loves without conditions and expectations.” ~ Mother Teresa

Happy Valentine’s Day, Happy Family Day, and we wish your family a wonderful and relaxing March Break!

Warmest regards,
Mrs. Melissa Meevis
