Principal’s June Message 2018

It truly has been an honour to serve as your Principal and to be a part of the many things that make Glenburnie such a special place!  It is hard to believe that we are approaching the end of another incredible school year; and what a year it has been.
As we reflect upon the many achievements and accolades of our students in their: academics, athletics, artistic endeavours, social responsibility and relationships, and personal goals which have been set along the way and achieved, it is truly amazing! We are pleased to celebrate this tremendous growth of each student and ask for families to take some time to review your child’s gains with them.
June is a time of many celebrations: Final Unit Activities, Field Trips, School Picnic, Festival of the Arts, Award Presentations, Talent Show, Tie Ceremony, and of course, Graduation! Please refer to the Important Dates as you won’t want to miss these special events.
The partnership between school, parent, and student is paramount.  We truly appreciate our extremely dedicated and committed staff who make Glenburnie School all that it is. We thank them for their passion and commitment to excellence which has been delivered to the highest level.  I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank each and every one of our parents for allowing us the privilege of working with your children and for your ongoing commitment and support of Glenburnie. Your children inspire us as educators each and every day. To our students, we have had so much fun working with you and watching you grow and learn over the course of this year.  Each one of you is a gift that we truly treasure.
For those students, families, and staff moving on to new adventures, we will miss you. You have made a difference during your time with us, and please know that Glenburnie will always be a place that you can call home. Please keep in touch with us. For families that are registered to return for the next school year, we as a school look forward to continuing to be a part of your child’s educational journey.
This passage by John Gardner has a strong message for each of us to carry with us throughout our lives.
“Meaning is not something you stumble across, like the answer to a riddle or the prize in a treasure hunt. Meaning is something you build in to life.  You build it out of your own past, out of your affections and loyalties, out of the experience of humankind as it is passed on to you, out of your own talent and understanding, out of the things you believe in, out of the things and people you love, out of the values for which you are willing to sacrifice something.  The ingredients are there.  You are the only one who can put them together in to that pattern that will be your life.  Let it be a life that has dignity and meaning for you.”~John Gardner
Live each day of your life with purpose and meaning.  On behalf of the staff of Glenburnie School, we offer our warmest wishes to you for a restful and enjoyable summer.
With warmest regards,
Mrs. M. Meevis
