“I wanted to send a quick email with regards to my daughter’s Pre-Kindergarten teacher. We are happy that our daughter has developed both on an academic and emotional level this year. She just loves going to school each day to see her friends but in particular, to see her teacher. When asked who loves her, her teacher always makes the list! I just wanted to let you know that we are very appreciative of all of the care, effort, and kindness that the teacher has shown our daughter.”
Community Service
United Way
Each year, Glenburnie students and staff plan a fun-filled week with many activities planned to raise funds for our annual United Way campaign. Funds raised go a long way towards assisting those in need in our community.
Terry Fox Run
In September, Glenburnie students and staff participate in the annual Terry Fox Run. Participants run or walk around our school’s playing field until they reach their target distance.
Right to Play Canada
In 2010, Glenburnie’s winning colour team donated funds to Right to Play Canada, a non-profit, volunteer organization committed to building playgrounds for children.
National Denim Day
Each year, on the second Tuesday in May, Glenburnie students and staff support National Denim Day which is organized by The Cure Foundation. Participants are invited to wear their favourite denim clothing in exchange for a donation. All funds collected are forwarded to The Cure Foundation to help in the fight against breast cancer.
Eyeglasses for Cuba
Glenburnie families donate unneeded prescription eyeglasses for distribution to needy children and adults living in Cuba. In addition, many of our families donate the remaining clothing from the annual Uniform Exchange, as well as an assortment of summer clothing and shoes.
