Mission Statement

“The future doesn’t lie ahead of you, waiting to happen.
It lies deep inside of you, waiting to be discovered.” _____________________________________________

At Glenburnie School, our mission is to effectively prepare our students to meet the challenges and opportunities they will face in our rapidly changing world as happy, fulfilled, and productive members of society.

Students are encouraged to achieve to their maximum potential in an environment in which personal initiative and responsibility are highly valued. Our integrated curriculum studies in reading writing, mathematics, and sciences address individual levels of capability.

We believe that a well rounded education includes activities which nurture creativity, character development, and effective communication skills. Accordingly, Glenburnie provides highly regarded programmes in the Arts (Music/Instrumental, Drama, and Visual Arts), Physical Education (Intramural and Varsity Sports), and French language instruction.

At Glenburnie School, the Ontario Ministry of Education concepts and skills are incorporated and used as guidelines. While our programmes of study are often expanded well beyond these expectations, curriculum studies are not viewed as an end result. The curriculum is viewed as a process whereby students work on the various curriculum aspects at their own particular level of achievement. Students develop 21st Century skills and strategies which will enable them to successfully meet the personal and workplace challenges they will face in the future.

The Glenburnie educational process has two complementary themes:

21st Century Skills Development:

Critical Thinking and Analytical Skills
Leadership Skills
Emotional Intelligence Awareness
Intellectual Curiosity
Communication Skills – Oral and Written
Economics and Global Awareness

Core Value Awareness:

Core values include character development, personal responsibility, and integrity.
Core values are an integral part of our Emotional Intelligence programme which is taught at all grade levels – Thinking and Learning with Awareness.
